PUTTING YOUTH LEADERSHIP AND INNOVATION AT THE CENTRE OF THE UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
YMCA is deepening its commitment to young people leading global change, with a new initiative that elevates the young leaders in action who will tackle the world's biggest issues. Connecting you with like-minded individuals from around the world to build the skills and solutions necessary to take climate action in your communities.
The initiative invites groups of young leaders to form a 'Solution Team' in their communities, or across geographical boundaries. Following an induction process, training and launch Summits, you will be connected with critical resources, and be eligible to apply for seed-funding. Solutions can be new (innovate, incubate, develop) or existing (expand, adapt, evolve, scale). Innovation is encouraged.
Round one will open for registration in September 2020, with a virtual Summit launch in October 2020 for successful applicants. The initiative will continue into 2021 and beyond as future groups of young leaders address and advance other issues connected to the SDGs such as youth employment, mental health, and more.
Develop an international network and dialogue around creating solutions to climate challenges.
Inspire young leaders to design and implement climate action solutions in their local communities.
Equip young leaders to be multipliers who empower others to create climate action solutions.
The primary focus of the first round is UN SDG 13: Climate Action.
YMCA's Youth-Led Solutions will also explore the intersectionality and environmental indicators of other SDGs.
